Abstract

Concerning the intertextual reading of the kingdom of God in Daniel 7 with other biblical texts, there is a tendency to overlook Daniel 7 as the primary context for interpretation and to place the locus of interpretation on the receiving texts. This paper examines the concept of the kingdom of God in Daniel 7 as a basis for interpreting other biblical texts. To research this concept, the author uses an exegesis method that considers the background of Israelite thought, the meaning of the original language, and the literary context of the book of Daniel. The research results of this method show that the people of the Most High are empowered by God to rule the whole world, that God's kingdom on earth is eternal and more potent than all kingdoms because all will serve Him, and that this kingdom will be given by God to His people as a gift. With the results of the existing research, the author concludes that the concept of the kingdom of God based on the vision in Daniel 7 is a kingdom that is more powerful than any other kingdom and where God will give power to His people to rule the whole world so that all will serve Him and the kingdom is eternal on earth.
